The other day we met with our contractor for our property in Royal Chapel, and I had to giggle a bit, because he did something I would have never thought of, and I thought it was brilliant! Yes, for as much as I like to brag about all the great ways I am now trying to use technology, my thinking is still so "inside the box"!
He needed to know the model numbers of the appliances that we picked out, so that he could make sure the openings in the custom cabinets were the right size, etc. I had the model numbers written on a post-it note. I handed him the note, and immediately looked for a pen, so he could write the numbers down...but he didn't have a piece of paper either, so I just said, "that is okay, you can keep that!"
All the while he is holding his phone and moving around, with the phone pointed at the post-it. I thought, "oh, he will just type it into his i-phone, of course!"
But NO - he didn't type anything...he was moving around looking for the right lighting because he TOOK A PICTURE of the post-it! Oh ya, gotta love the AH-HA moment!
Now I didn't want to LOOK surprised - of course I would have just taken a picture of it too...NO - I wasn't looking for a pen and paper like a caveman....I knew he was looking for good lighting all along! NOT!!!!
Then, this morning - during one of the few quite moments I have a month, I was reading the Texas Realtor magazine and came across this article: "Nine Ways your Phone's Camera Can Make Life Easier!" And it is all so clear to me now...my
crackberry camera ain't just for capturing grins...check out all this other cool stuff I can use it for! I feel so liberated!
1. Find your car: Can't remember if you are in B-2 at the airport, or was it G-2?
Wal-mart isle 9 or was that the last time you were at
Wal-mart? Just snap a picture!!!! Brilliant!
2. Stay safe - this one is for my Realtor friends...take a picture of the person you are showing houses to and send it to a friend or the receptionist at your office!
3. Remember that error message on the computer screen...now why have I never thought of this one? It is so frustrating trying to remember that message to tell Jamie so that he can fix my computer! Again....brilliance!
4. Perfect for my property management biz, avoid the it was like that when I moved in story. However, I do a full photo inventory of all my properties, so probably won't be using the crack-camera for this one.
5. Find your hotel room - those card keys don't have the room number on them...what if you forget your room number? I could see me doing this!
6. Scene of the Crime photos....fender-benders, etc. I have to admit, I probably would have thought of this one on my own.
7. Before you take it apart...STOP! Before you disconnect your cable modem, wireless router, printer, laptop dock, etc. to diagnose a problem, take a picture.. Excellent idea!
8. Remember the wine - now this one is a great idea! Snap a picture of the bottle! Then when you drink too much of it...no worries - just hope that you remember that you took the picture! :)
I feel like a whole new world of ease has been presented to me! Color me SNAP HAPPY!
